Coalfired capacity and generation in China has more or less peaked and will now level off, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Despite all this, the China Electricity Council, which represents the power sector, has proposed raising a cap on coal capacity from 1,100GW in 2020 to 1,300GW in 2030.
